Quick Build

Forty-three teams participated in the Quick Build Workshop held immediately following the Plano Kickoff Event on January 7, 2012 where teams tuned into FIRST's live broadcast from Manchester that revealed the 2012 FRC game challenge. jcpenney hosted the event for North Texas teams and the company's gracious volunteers made the event a terrific success. Lockheed Martin set up its machine shop and programming area, as well as supplied and coordinated technical leads for each of the key workshop sessions. Teams divided into sub teams to assemble the chassis, transmission, electronics and programming portions of their robot. Sub teams gathered at the completion of the Quick Build Workshop to assemble their robot. Most teams left the event with a rolling robot, accelerating teams two to three weeks ahead of schedule. This advance allows teams to focus the remainder of the six-week build period on strategizing and adding scoring components to their alreaday assembled machine.
